As previously mentioned, after the Z Fighters battle with the Androids, Vegeta decides to train extensively in the gravity chamber at the Capsule Corporation, where Bulma lives with her mother and father. At this time, Bulma is in a relationship with Yamcha and they had been in an on-and-off relationship for a total of about ten years.
Now, Bulma had become fed up with his womanizing and lack of commitment. As stated in the 'First Kiss' fan comic, after Bulma become stand-offish towards him, Yamcha calls her one evening to try and smooth things over but she hangs upon him, not due to her no wanting to hear him out, but actually because she could not hear him in her loud laboratory. Yamcha takes this as the end, and they break up. If it wasn't for the advances equipment that was created at Capsule Corps, Vegeta wouldn't have utilized it and had gotten to know Bulma better.
A device created by Dr. Brief, Bulma's father, made it so fighters could train in a secluded environment under powerful gravity more so than that of Earth to raise their strength and power level swiftly. Vegeta trained for most of the day and as high as one-hundred-and-fifty times the Earth's gravity. This is the second model however, due to Goku breaking the first. This model was made specifically for Vegeta's training and on one occasion, Yamcha tries t train in it out of spite and is amazed that Vegeta could train in such a place, as it was too overwhelming.
Getting back to the fan-made comic that was previously mentioned, the story makes a lot of sense and seems to fit the flow of the series well, so it has become very popular with fans of this couple. To summarize, Vegeta returns to Earth to train, using the gravity chamber at the Capsule Corporation. On many occasions, Yamcha and Vegeta get into arguments in front of Bulma.
Vegeta makes a remark that Yamcha is weak due to his lack of motivation and training, which is true. Vegeta then breaks the gravity chamber due to overuse and Dr. This is very true in the case of Vegeta and Bulma. Vegeta was always on his purpose. He was training day in and day out. Even if Bulma stood naked in front of him, giving herself to him, he did not care.
Becoming a super saiyan was more important than getting laid. Vegeta was strong, determined, a bad boy and most importantly, focused. This would make sense since biologically speaking, women are searching for a strong man that will protect them. It is said that he was in space for a whole year. Bulma broke up with Yamcha and decided to be with Vegeta.
So when they were alone Bulma made the first move. Vegeta was too stubborn and too prideful to make the first move.
Also Vegeta did not understand women. After they went to bed and Vegeta injected her with his saiyan seed, he went to outer space to train and search for Kakarot Goku. He spent a year searching for Goku. Remember this was before future Trunks arrived. When future Trunks arrived, he warned Goku that the androids would arrive in three years.
That means that during the period of three years since future Trunks warned Goku, Vegeta and Bulma had baby Trunks. Comedic opportunities waiting to happen.
Superman and Goku are often compared to one another as the faces of both western and eastern comic books respectively. The truth is, though, that Goku is much less of a moral pillar than the Man of Steel is and that was proved when Vegeta rightfully scolded him in the Buu saga for suggesting something awful.
Despite the Earth being at risk, the Old Kai is not willing to allow Goku to use the Dragon Balls in order to bring back all the lives of those lost due to Majjin Buu.
Goku, however, has an idea! Knowing that all old men in the world of Dragon Ball seem to be creepy, he tells Old Kai that if he lets this slide, he will give him pictures of a human woman.
Sensing something is up, Vegeta probes him about which one he's talking about and Goku confesses that he means Bulma. Vegeta refuses to let this happen defending the honor of his wife. Bulma probably would have 'rewarded' him greatly if she found out about this. Goku, on the other hand, would need Zeno to save his behind from the whooping Bulma would give him. Despite coming to Earth in the Saiyan Saga, Vegeta did not actually interact with Bulma or many of the other supporting characters.
In the case of the blue haired wonder, her first visual of the prince was him blowing through Zarbon in his monster form. While technically Vegeta protected her really he was just protecting the Dragon Ball she is quite horrified by his blood lust and rage. That would serve as the basis for the nightmare she has of the prince later on in the saga.
The voice acting from Chris Sabat and Tiffany Vollmer in the Funimation dub is on point in this scene. While Bulma is trying to keep some sleep in a cave on Namek, she dreams that a red-eyed even more sinister looking Vegeta has tracked her down and wants the Dragon Ball. More than that, however, he wants her in the ground six feet under. Ignoring her pleas for mercy, "Nightmare Vegeta" charges an energy blast that would have incinerated her but Bulma wakes up just in time.
I don't know what's darker, the fact that I can see Vegeta at this point of his life totally doing this or the fact that Bulma proceeds to call him cute near the end of the saga.
Maybe these two messed up people truly deserve each other. The Buu Saga isn't the most classic of arcs for many Dragon Ball fans but for Vegeta fans, it might be the Prince's finest hour.
Although it definitely doesn't start out that way. Early in the saga, Vegeta realizes just how far away he is from the resurrected Goku on a power level and decides drastic needs for vindicated pride call for drastic measures. If Vegeta hadn't knocked out Goku, would they have been able to beat Majjin Buu together? Vegeta enters a Faustian bargain with the evil wizard Babidi and is granted a massive power increase at the cost of his soul.
With this new power, he is able to take on Goku in combat Goku could have gone Super Saiyan 3 the entire time, but we'll just ignore that but Goku eventually smacks some sense into this dense Prince and tells him their fighting is going to unleash the greatest evil the galaxy has ever seen.
Once he gets the truth knocked into him, Vegeta decides that he will be the one to save the planet from Majin Buu but all his attacks are useless.
Seeing only one option, he decides to destroy himself in a self-destruction attack and I'll let his own words end this; "Trunks, Bulma I do this for you. The idea of Vegeta settling down with a human woman would seem preposterous to him before the Buu Saga.
And you know what, despite the events of the Cell Saga, I still don't think that Vegeta would have actually become a loving husband and father to Bulma and Trunks if it wasn't for one person; Goku. If Goku was alive, he'd definitely be Vegeta's best man at the wedding.
Let's think about this for a second. After the defeat of Frieza, Vegeta's goal in life is to surpass his rival in terms of power. But once Goku blows himself up on King Kai's planet along with Cell, Vegeta is crushed as now he won't get the chance to test himself anymore.
Finding himself with no purpose in life, he vows to never fight again. This opens the door to Vegeta settling down with Bulma and becoming the character we all love nowadays. There's absolutely no chance that it would have happened if Goku never did his sacrifice or if he allowed himself to be revived. Though it would pain Vegeta to say it, Kakarot is the true reason why his eyes were opened up to the joy that is Bulma. We all have that friend, you know the one I'm talking about.
The friend who gets a girlfriend and instead of the relationship being between two people with distinct personalities, they end up becoming attached at the hip and they can't do anything without the other. Sure you can understand that they love each other, but it's also important that you have lives outside of them. Vegeta and Bulma show this brilliantly with their marriage. In terms of their hobbies and interests, Vegeta and Bulma couldn't be any different.
If it was up to Bulma, a great day would be tinkering around in her science lab or shopping at the mall. Vegeta, on the other hand, would rather be eating and training until the end of time. One doesn't try and change the other, instead they accept the fact that they have different interests and are likely not going to cross over.
Instead, they enjoy each other's company and love each other for who they are. Would it be hilarious to try and see Bulma training as a fighter and Vegeta trying to figure out chemistry? Yes, but as it stands I think it works out fine for both of them.
Well, you all saw this one coming. For whatever reason, Bulma decided that she would like to have a day with the smelly alien warlord that has the manners of one to match. Without thinking, she ends up pregnant by Vegeta and nine months later, poof, Trunks is born. Skipping town when faced with a baby? Vegeta is more human than we thought. At this point of his life, Vegeta has no idea of responsibility or honor. At the time, all Vegeta cared about was getting the Dragon Balls to wish for immortality.
He didn't care at all about the Z Fighters and had no problem leaving them for dead. When Vegeta wanted the Dragon Balls from the heroes, he had no trouble blatantly threatening to kill them if they didn't hand the Dragon Balls over. Though in some versions of the story, he does later think of Bulma as being a gorgeous woman after meeting her, so apparently the seeds had been planted even then.
It can be hard to tell what age Saiyans are since they stay in their prime for so long, but believe it or not, when Vegeta first showed up, he was only a year older than Bulma. She was 29, while Vegeta was Due to Vegeta's fixation on training, that age gap between them has increased by an additional five years.
In the universal tournament saga of Super Bulma is 47 and Vegeta is now This is thanks to Vegeta's training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, where time passes far more quickly than outside the chamber. Multiple training sessions in the chamber only amounted to a few days past in the outside world, but for Vegeta several years went by. Of course this is nothing compared to some of the other age changes Dragon Ball has seen.
For instance Emperor Pilaf and his gang have regressed back into being children thanks to a wish using the Dragon Balls. Still, Bulma might be hoping Vegeta takes it easy before he's old enough to be her dad. Something that confused many people during Dragon Ball Super was the situation involving Pan and Bulla. Prior to Super , most people knew these characters best from Dragon Ball GT , where Pan looks like a preteen girl, and Bulla looks like a teenager.
Because of this, many people believe that Bulla is the older girl. The Dragon Ball guidebook Daizenshuu 7 also seems to confirm this, saying Bulla was born in the year and Pan in However, none of this is actually true, according to DBZ or Super.
All other sources on the age of both girls has Pan still being listed as being born in , while Bulla is supposed to have been born in This shocked many fans who were convinced Bulla was older.
Super seems to have finally put the situation to rest by showing Bulla being born after Pan, but Vegeta and Bulma's daughter has caused a lot of confusion. Like Goku, Vegeta is not into getting a paying job since he'd rather train. Vegeta feels his contribution to the household balances out because he is a protector, but his track record in that regard isn't so good.
We see this going all the way back to DBZ , where Bulma and baby Trunks are nearly blown out of the sky by Android 20, but Vegeta doesn't do a thing to try and save them.
Vegeta grew more compassionate with time, but his success at avenging Bulma is still abysmal. He certainly had no luck at getting revenge against Buu after the villain killed Bulma. Everyone recalls Vegeta getting furious and attacking Beerus after the latter slaps Bulma, but Vegeta soon lost that battle.
Then, when Frieza returned in Super and endangered Bulma by firing an energy blast at her during his fight with Goku, Vegeta stopped the blast, but never managed to defeat Frieza. Lastly we saw this again when Bulma tried to subdue Zamasu by pretending to be attracted to him, only for Zamasu to render her unconscious.
Once again, Vegeta failed to beat Zamasu, leaving him with a really bad success rate of defending his wife. This one probably isn't a big secret if you're the type of person who knows Akira Toriyama names his characters according to themes like all of Frieza's race having cold-related names , but you may have missed it if you aren't a vegetable aficionado. In the episode of Super where Bulma reveals her and Vegeta's daughter will be named Bulla, Vegeta initially protests.
