Caravan jockey wheels will generally have a 48mm diameter smooth outer stem. The red handle at the top is an accessory used to aid manoeuvring the caravan by hand, and the brick under the stem is to take the load off of the pneumatic wheel when in storage.

Just got to check what size for avondale perle ulysses. If you remove the jockey wheel while traveling and the van becomes detached the brake can't be applied as it hits the floor before the breakaway cable can activated it I've just bought a full jockey wheel with pneumatic tyre, not cheap.
WispMan Posted May 19, Here goes! As Paul above says, don't take the wheel off - too dangerous. Graham Unless otherwise stated all posts are my personal opinion. Posted May 20, edited. Reception - All Forums Caravans and Caravanning. Topic: Oops. Broken my jockey wheel? On arrival at site today had to wind the jockey wheel to full height as it was sinking into the deep gravel Would not wind up any more.
My not so bright idea was for my strong 15 year old son to lift the front of the van while I put a block under the jockey wheel. Unfortunately as he lifted the van up, the wheel fell out!
We even repeated the whole performance a second time to put the block under. Now the jockey wheel will not raise or lower Not looking forward to hitching up in 5 days if I cannot lower into the towbar! What now? Although I see many people do this. Should I use a car jack on something to give it height to take the weight of the front of the van to take a look? What am I likely to see Many thanks.
Up to Static caravan insurance is also available. Get an online quote now. What has happened is that you wound jockey wheel down far enough for the lower section to unscrew from the upper.
