Why does everyone hate rinoa

She might simply have wanted to see what he was like beneath that tough exterior. Or any other number of reasons. You're being shallow if you think something can be boiled down to one simple thing when there isn't really any proof of that one way or the other.

I think, originally, it wasn't necessarily that she was attracted to him, but simply wanted to know him better. Squall was the one who wound up pushing their relationship forward, as well as the Ragnarok incident.

And really, there's nothing wrong with Rinoa. If every female character is a rough and tough girl, that completely ruins the point of generalization, it just changes it into something that is just as bad as what it was before. The point is to see females not as a generic class of things, but to see them as people.

Rinoa is, very much, a person. She isn't simply a female, and just because she isn't as direct and aggressive as Lightning or Shantotto doesn't mean she's a poor character, or simply a female.

You miss the entire point if you think that everyone should be like Lightning or some variation of her. Personally, I don't hate her, I just think she has less odds of getting in. It's hard to tell what SE will do, but given they considered adding Seifer originally, coupled with being another physical attacker something SE seems to keep adding and a Chaos character, I could easily see them adding him for that reason alone.

Who can tell though, it's difficult to say what SE will do. Oh, I just wanted to clarify. Nothing wrong with disliking her. Anyone is welcome to dislike her. But saying that she's a poor character because she represents an archetype you feel should be abolished is a silly reason. I kept silent, blaming these antics on your ignorance, but I can no longer tolerate your manners! Really, a silly archetype that you hate should be exaggerated to humorous levels.

No use arguing about it, unless that's your thing. User Info: Zell People blow this way out of proportion every single time. No, that's highly unlike Squall. I can't. She's pushy, unprofessional, disobeys orders, gets herself involved in things she doesn't need to It annoys me more that she gets the most screen time for obvious reasons, I know, but could they have made a more likable character?

She's great in battle, and her outfit is pretty cool, but as a character, I don't like her. I've never felt so much dislike towards a character; heck, I even like some villains more than her.

User Info: Pibugo Pibugo 7 years ago 2 But she's got a dog a cool one, too , that counts for something, right?? User Info: Patapon Patapon 7 years ago 3 You're not the only one. User Info: strife strife 7 years ago 4 I think she's pretty annoying early on in the game, though she does get a little better as the game goes on.

User Info: -se7en- -se7en- 7 years ago 6 This game is pretty short compared to most FF games. User Info: skyrimian skyrimian 7 years ago 7 To me, the ugliest thing about her was that she seemed to be into Squall and Seifer at the same time, and like, even engaged Squall while obviously still had feelings for Seifer.

So, why didn't Ultimecia possess Ellone at the Lunar Base? Adamantoises are one tough mothers. Side Quest. Where can I find Lionheart Ingredients? How important exactly is keeping low levels?

How do you abolish the random rule? Which magic junctions best to which stat? I admit that my Riona theory was indeed just a theory I have never claimed otherwise, although you seem to think that I have, for some reason that I fail to grasp , but I thought theories were OK, since Lenore was included.

There is no evidence that her name was not supposed to be Rinoa from the start; it is pure speculation that her name was supposed to be Lenore, and was mistranslated to Rinoa. It shall be fixed. In the future I would like to be informed of something like this before judgement is cast. I see no reason for there to be a trivia about her resembling either Rinoa nor Aerith in either physique nor personality, as she is actually very different from them both, in both instances.

The only resemblance I see is about the "heart" sound in both Heartilly and Lockhart, which is really not relevant. Unless the designers of the characters are quoted as making a character resemble another on purpose, these kind of things should be noted as dependant on opinion, which really doesn't belong in a wikia article.

She follows an archetype at the most, but that's it. Mind if it gets removed? Is there any way someone could find me sources for that development info? I'm trying to recreate the Rinoa article, and while I could do it without that, it'd be great to help it improve some. Information came from the FF8 wikipedia article, use the sources that they have used for that info. The rest came from the fan website that is cited at the bottom of the page.

Netherith , October 22, UTC. Random Bullshit. Redoon's specialty. Can anyone please show me evidence of this "rumor" Rumor has it that Rinoa's name was supposed to be "Lenore" which means light.

Personally, I do not believe any rumor or theory should be on any page, but if their is evidence of this particular one, let me know. What more can I say? Isn't the second ring on her necklace Not Squalls her father's graduation ring? I thought it was. Am I mistaken, can we get some proof?

I'm trying to think back to when she mentioned that ring Been a while since I've played 8 , but I can't recall anything about it. If someone verifies this, or you get proof, feel free to throw it in. The other ring she has is never mentioned in the game. For some reason, I thought she had mentioned it when you first visit Deling City.

Oh well. Sorry guys. The article seems to presume that the player puts Rinoa in Squall's group. I actually prefer to put her in Selphie's group To be honest, when running the game on the emulator, I got a weird bug after the FMV with her when Garden starts flying, and that's the initial reason why I actually changed which group she went with :P -- , June 25, UTC.

The Julia page claims something about her changing her name after running away from home, but it's not mentioned on Rinoa's page at all where it would be more at home and it's never mentioned in the game. So what's the deal? Source on that, or alternative? Dazuro , December 23, UTC. Same with Squall Leonhart, as ,going by your theory, it should be Squall Loire. Official material trumps whatever fans think it should be.

Netherith , December 23, UTC. When was that stated? I may have missed something but I've played through the game times and have no memory of that. That's the claim given on Julia's page, but its absence from Rinoa's page makes me suspicious. Either it's false or it needs to be added to Rinoa. Like do they have passports? Birth certificates? Legally in many countries, such as the UK, you can change your name into anything as long as it's not offensive or something and don't really even need to do much paperwork for it, you can just decide you start to use a new name.

In some African countries, people's surnames don't even come from their parents, everyone just "invents" a surname when they are born. Since Rinoa quite obviously wants nothing to do with her father, it's no wonder she wants to be called Rinoa Heartilly instead.

It's not even that much off if it was her mother's maiden name. It is never addressed in the game why she is called Heartilly, she just is. Keltainentoukokuu , December 23, UTC. Her name WAS Rinoa Caraway, but when she left home at 17, she changed her name to Rinoa Heartilly as a sign of severing herself from her father.

CaelumFleuret97 , December 23, Okay, so now we have someone insisting that they totally did read it in the game, and a few other people saying there's no canon explanation. Any objections to removing the claims in lack of evidence, putting them back if we find a quote later on? Even if that is the implication due to the whole anti-government argument above, especially it's still original "research. So are we going to have this section in all character pages now? Netherith talk , August 24, UTC.

Any information on what these costumes are called or how they are obtained? We have info on the Christmas outfits but stuff like Rinoa and Yuna's wedding gowns, and Rinoa's summer outfits and her "dog ear" outfit are lacking. Netherith talk , December 2, UTC. Edea raised these kids and was being possessed.

If she had been killed, her soul would have just been doomed to eternal suffering for her having not passed on the Sorceress Power before her death, and the Embodiment would have just left her body and gone into another poor woman that Ultimecia would have possessed.

As for the battle between the Gardens, most folks would have wanted a say in whether or not they died. I know I would have rather been on the battlefield wielding a weapon and having a say in my fate instead of hiding in a dormitory. People conveniently forget that all of the "rescue Rinoa" scenarios after the first one had direct effects on everything playing out as it did, meaning her needing to be rescued actually saved the world.

Cases in point: When Squall had to rescue her during the conflict between the Gardens, in doing so, he landed nearby an entrance to Galbadia Garden and was able to enter and end the conflict by defeating Edea. With Rinoa being possessed, Squall took her to Esthar where the Lunatic Pandora happened to be raised, putting SeeD in a position to do something about it. When Squall dove into space to catch Rinoa, this event allowed the couple to secure the Ragnarok, which they would later use to blast their way into Lunatic Pandora something that couldn't have been achieved otherwise , rescue Ellone, defeat Adel, and enact the plan that allowed them to defeat Ultimecia.

As for freeing her from the Sorceress Memorial goes, that was more or less everyone else's idea, as she was content to remain there. And, as before, her being rescued allowed everything to turn out is it did. There's really not much to say in her defense here. You either like that personality trait or you don't. I personally do. He was such a badass! She turned him into a lovesick, bleeding heart wimp! And that's assuming that they would have ever been in that situation in the first place, as Squall may not have gone to all the trouble of taking her to Esthar to begin with had he not fallen in love with her.

For that matter, I imagine Squall's happier being Note: This information compiled after spending one year as a member of Gaia Online.
